GOD SIGHTINGS – DECEMBER 2023
There has always been, so it seems, an attempt by critics of the Scripture to distance the God of the Old Testament from the Jesus of the New Testament. Whereas the Old Testament may portray God more in the context of severity, the God incarnate revealed by the Person of Jesus appears more compassionate and “meek,” if you will, lavishing goodness upon broken hearts and lives. Nonetheless, the truth that came to the human race as a child in a cattle trough was no less the God who brought the Law to Mt. Sinai with lightening and thundering!
The Apostle Paul reminds us in Romans 11:22, “Note then, the kindness and severity of God. . .” One only needs to read of the second coming of Jesus Christ from Revelation, chapter nineteen, to see that Holy One of saints who owns both a war horse and a donkey’s foal.
This Christmas, while the world of unbelief envisions a God of jolly benevolence and optimistic bipartisanship, let us see the nature of God as it really is, as He truly was revealed among us—“And the Word became flesh and dwelt among us and we have seen His glory, glory as of the only Son from the Father, full of grace and [full] of truth” (John 1:14)!
Worship God in all His glory!
